Meet Our Educators
Behind every learning experience at Free Spirit Farm School there are dedicated educators who are passionate about connecting children with nature. Get to know the individuals who make our programs come alive.
Fiona osborn
Lead Teacher & Co-founder
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Fiona has been an educator for the past 8 years in various educational settings. She received her Bachelor's in Education as a Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist in 2015, and has always believed in meeting children where they are and teaching them according to their individual needs. Growing up spending weekends & summers at her family's cottage in a rural area of Ohio, Fiona quickly recognized at a young age that nature was always her safe space and her go-to for inspiration; a place where she felt most at home. It has always been her dream to fuse her career as an educator and a lover of the natural world to create a school and space that inspires, teaches and engages children to become a steward for the land and environment; all the while reaping the many educational and life lessons the natural world has to offer. She is so looking forward to continuing to build this dream and opportunity for her two children, who enjoy nothing more than being immersed in nature alongside their parents!
Mellissa Reynolds
Lead Teacher & Co-founder
Mellissa grew up in Wake Forest on her Grandmother Jean's farm; the home site of Free Spirit Farm School. This property has been a stable, safe, and divine property for Mellissa and her family for generations, and she is so excited and proud to be able to share it with her community. She has run an in-home daycare for the last 15 years, opening up her home and extensive backyard full of adventures to each of her clients, many of which she now considers to be family. Mellissa is a firm believer that all children are not only capable but destined to become the truest and best form of themselves, and that getting there is not a linear journey, but filled with a natural ebb and flow much like the land around us. She has a passion for animals, and is currently a mom to 4 adorable, mischievous cattle dogs. She holds her Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification, as well as 35 years experience working with and riding horses. She also currently holds her Realtor license, and loves helping members of her community in any capacity that they may need.
